How Baby Powder Can Limit the Amount of Sand You Bring Home

Posted by Beach Lifeguard on 30th Nov 2014

Anyone who has spent any time at the beach knows how much sand you can unknowingly bring home with you. It finds its way into your clothes, towels, shoes, and bags; and it seems like you are cleaning up sand for the rest of the year. To help limit the amount of sand you bring home, all you need to do is follow this one tip; bring the baby powder with you.

The first thing that you should do after your day of sand and surf is to rinse off before you head home. This will help remove as much sand from your body as possible, if it’s not possible to rinse off prior to heading home, you can still limit the amount of sand that comes along with you. Start by drying off as thoroughly as possible, this will help remove as much sand from your body as possible. Once you are dried off, you should then begin shaking out the excess sand from your clothes, towels, shoes and anything else that is shakable.

Next, you will need to shake a small amount of baby powder into the palm of your hand and rub it into your skin. The baby powder will absorb any excess moisture in your skin and the unwanted sand will simply fall away. You can also repeat the process until you are sure that you have removed as much sand from your body as possible.

This simple trick doesn’t only work on your body; you can apply baby powder to your shoes to remove sand trapped inside of them as well. Sprinkling a light amount of baby powder onto your clothing and then shaking it off will also help remove excess sand from your clothing. This is a great way to ensure that yourLifeguard West Coast Hoodie remains free of sand.

If you feel like you have sand trapped in your hair, the baby powder trick will work for that as well. Simply flip your head upside down and shake a little baby powder into your palm and rub it through your hair. After you have applied the baby powder, simply brush your hair and the sand will fall out. Time at the beach is a fun and great way to spend the day, but it’s even better when you don’t bring half the beach home with you.
